The Eugene W. Hanaka Scholarship trust annually awards scholarships to those students exhibiting extraordinary effort, integrity, selflessness and leadership in the classroom and in the community. Each recipient best represent the following criteria:

The Eugene W. Hanaka Scholarship Trust was founded on May 2, 2000 in the memory of Eugene W. Hanaka. Mr. Hanaka was an over 73 year resident of the Riverside-Black Rock neighborhoods of Buffalo, New York and raised eight children in Buffalo. He was a dedicated father known for his incredible work ethic, selflessness and loyalty. Mr. Hanaka gave 46 years to Consolidated Packaging Machinery rising from apprentice to inspector and foreman. He also served as a local union president for over 30 years as well as a founding member and treasurer to the Capem Credit Union. Mr. Hanaka was also a veteran of World War II as a marine in the Asian Theater.
